Strengthening Friendship and Educational Cooperation with Southwest Forestry University, China

On September 12, 2025, Vietnam National University of Forestry (VNUF) and its Dong Nai Branch (VNUF2) co-hosted a working session with Southwest Forestry University (SWFU) in China. This event was part of a series of international cooperation activities aimed at expanding opportunities for learning, research, and the development of science and technology between the two institutions, both of which have strong expertise in forestry and natural resources.

Attending the session at VNUF2 were Prof. Dr. Ding Renzhan, Vice President of SWFU, along with faculty representatives from functional departments.

On the VNUF and VNUF2 side, the delegation included Prof. Dr. Pham Van Dien – President of VNUF, Dr. Nguyen Sy Ha – Party Secretary and Vice Director in charge of VNUF2, as well as faculty representatives from various departments of the Dong Nai Branch.

In his welcoming remarks, Prof. Dr. Pham Van Dien expressed his pleasure in hosting the SWFU delegation, highly appreciating the effective cooperation achieved between the two universities in recent years. He also emphasized his hope that VNUF would serve as a bridge connecting SWFU and VNUF2, thereby further strengthening their comprehensive partnership.

Representing SWFU, Prof. Dr. Ding Renzhan expressed his gratitude for the warm reception and stressed, “VNUF and VNUF2 are among SWFU’s most important partners in Vietnam. Both universities share many similarities in training and research, and we have great potential to expand and deepen our cooperation in the future.”

During the session, both sides discussed several key areas of collaboration:
• Enhancing student and faculty exchange programs;
• Jointly organizing international scientific conferences and workshops;
• Supporting the establishment of short-term Chinese language courses at VNUF2;
• Assigning lecturers and volunteers to directly support teaching and learning at the Dong Nai Branch.

At the meeting, Dr. Nguyen Sy Ha also provided specific suggestions to maximize the strengths of both universities, expressing his expectation that this collaboration would bring tangible benefits to students, faculty members, and scientific research.

The working session concluded with an exchange of symbolic souvenirs, reaffirming the strong and enduring partnership between the two universities, while paving the way for long-term and sustainable development.

The meeting with SWFU marked a new milestone in the internationalization strategy of VNUF2. Beyond enhancing training quality and scientific research, it also opened new opportunities for students and lecturers to access modern knowledge and technology, fostering deeper integration with the global education community.
