In the context of globalization and green transformation becoming the world's sustainable development trend, international cooperation in the forestry sector not only contributes to enhancing research capacity, but also acts as a driving force to promote innovation in higher education towards linkage, integration and sustainable development.

On November 3, 2025, the Branch of the University of Forestry in Dong Nai province (VNUF2) had a working session and professional exchange with a delegation of experts from the Guangxi Forestry Research Institute (GRFI), China.

• Applied silviculture and non-timber forest products;
• Climate change adaptation and sustainable forest restoration.
GRFI highly appreciates the training potential and position of the University of Forestry in general and Dong Nai Branch in particular, especially in linking training with forestry production practices in the Southeast and Central Highlands regions - areas of important significance in the development of sustainable forest ecosystems in Vietnam.
The two sides agreed to build a bilateral training cooperation program including:
• Exchange of international students, graduate students and researchers between the two units;
• Co-instructing of graduate students and graduate students in areas of common strength;
• Organizing regular international scientific conferences to share new research results in the fields of forestry and environmental technology.
One of the highlights discussed by the two sides was GRFI's consideration of supporting full scholarships for students, trainees and young staff of VNUF2 who wish to study and research at the Institute.
Dr. Nguyen Sy Ha expressed his hope: “The cooperation between the Forestry University Branch in Dong Nai and the Guangxi Forestry Research Institute does not only stop at academic exchange, but also aims to build a cross-border research cooperation network, contributing to improving the training quality and scientific research capacity of Vietnamese staff, lecturers and students.”
International cooperation in the field of forestry is considered an important pillar in the development strategy of the Forestry University Branch in Dong Nai province for the period 2025-2030.
This event not only affirms the position of VNUF2 in the international training and research network on forestry, but also opens up great opportunities for the generation of young Vietnamese students and scientists to access knowledge, technology and advanced research methods from the region and the world.
