From September 8, 2018 to September 17, 2018, the delegation of VNUF2 had visited, worked and signed a Memorandum of cooperation with the University of Montana (USA) on students and lecturers exchange program between the two universities. Along with the delegation of the School branch of Vietnam National University of Forestry, there was also the delegation of Dong Nai Culture and Nature Reserve - a unit that cooperates with the School Branch in research, implementation and practice of students.
During these days, the delegation visited the school, working areas, activities at the school, national parks in cooperation with the University of Montana. In particular, the delegation had a meeting to discuss and establish a Memorandum on the signing of student exchange between the two universities and discussed about the plan of student exchange in 2019. The School authorities of the two universities expressed their desire for extensive cooperation in training, research, and exchange of lecturers and students.
The meeting was also attended by the participating of Ms. Marilyn Marler - Representative of the University of Montana, Professor Tom DeLuca - Dean of the College of Forestry, Professor Len Broberg - Dean of the College of Environment, Ms. Marja Unkuri-Chaudhry - Head of the International Cooperation Department, Ms. Deena Mansour - Mansfield Centre.
On September 10, 2018, the delegation attended a seminar to introduce the learning environment, experiences and research for students at VNUF2 Biosphere Reserve. The seminar was also attended by the representatives of the University of Montana, the organizations of Biodiversity and Wildlife conservation and attracted large students. The seminar was successful with the student’s interest and questions of many researchers, conservationists and students.
The delegation visited the Conservation Office and the Education and Wildlife Rehabilitation Center Montana WILD. In particular, the delegation visited, experienced and worked with two famous national parks - Yellowstone and Glacier, two units that cooperate with the University of Montana in study and research.
Yellowstone National Park was the first national park in the world to be recognized as a world natural heritage in 1978. Director of Glacier National Park introduced how to manage and conserve biodiversity, prevent forest fires, climate change... and how to manage and cooperate with Canada in conservation work (National Park Glacier borders Waterton National Park in Canada, the two national parks are known as Waterton-Glacier International Peace Park).
The business trip was a great success with the signing of a long-term cooperation on the exchange program of students and lecturers between the two universities, on the experiences and learning about wildlife conservation and management in the State. Montana, USA.
